Uniting the Businesses of Birmingham to End Financial Exclusion

Building a City of Savers

City of Savers is a campaign to tackle financial exclusion in the workplace, helping businesses support their employees’ financial wellbeing. Together, we can build a city where everyone has the tools to build a safety net.

Many Birmingham employees are working but still struggling to get by between paydays. The City of Savers campaign is a call to action for businesses to unite against this problem, not with handouts, but by giving their employees the tools to help themselves.

The Problem

In-Work Financial Exclusion

Our mission starts with a stark reality

High employment doesn't always equal financial security. A map of Birmingham's constituencies reveals areas with high employment but also high deprivation. This shows that low wages can lead to a constant struggle to get by, even for people with jobs. Financial hardship affects many employees quietly. Breaking the stigma benefits both your team and your business.

This campaign is a partnership between Citysave and the businesses of Birmingham. Your commitment will provide a direct solution to the problem of in-work poverty.

Sign the Pledge: Make a public commitment to tackling financial exclusion in our city. It's a promise to stand with your community and invest in your employees.

Become a Payroll Partner: Put your pledge into action. Our employee benefit scheme is a simple, cost-free solution that allows your team to save and repay loans directly from their salary. This small change helps them build a vital safety net without even thinking about it.
